Waterloo Region Snow Melt, Plow Crews & Windy Weather Update

Plow crews across the Waterloo Region are making extra passes to clear snow, slush and ice as a warm spell briefly shifts winter conditions. Temperatures are forecast to reach around 6 °C on Thursday and near 10 °C on Friday, helping melt snow buildup on city and residential roads.

The milder weather comes ahead of a significant temperature drop this weekend, with overnight lows expected to fall below freezing into Saturday. Meteorologists also warn that a system later in the week could bring rain followed by another shot of snow, and winds gusting up to 70 km/h could make travel more challenging.

In Cambridge, the city extended its snow event restrictions, keeping on‑street parking banned until Thursday noon so crews can operate more effectively. Crews are also working to scrape down remaining ice beneath melting snow.

At this time, the Waterloo Regional Police have not issued special warnings about falling ice or slippery surfaces, but they plan to update residents as conditions evolve.

Drivers and pedestrians alike should stay attentive to changing road conditions as temperatures fluctuate through the week.
