Three Hospitalized After Fire at Waterloo Supportive Housing Building

Waterloo, ON — Three people were taken to hospital for treatment after a late-night fire at a supportive housing building in Waterloo.

Waterloo Fire Rescue responded to reports of a unit fire at 155 Lincoln Road near Bridgeport Road East and Weber Street North at approximately 11:15 p.m. Monday. The building is operated as a YW Supportive and Affordable Housing residence.

Fire crews arrived quickly and contained the fire to a single unit. Emergency responders treated three individuals for smoke inhalation, and all were transported to hospital as a precaution. No additional injuries were reported.

Crews remained on scene into the early hours of Tuesday to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the building was safe. The scene was cleared well before the morning commute.

At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials have not released an estimate of the damage as of Tuesday morning.

Police are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact authorities or Crime Stoppers.
