School bus and taxi transportation has been cancelled across the Guelph area Tuesday morning due to icy road conditions, according to Student Transportation Services Wellington-Dufferin.
The cancellation affects Guelph, Centre Wellington, North Wellington, and Dufferin, including RF Hall. Despite the transportation shutdown, schools remain open, and families must arrange alternate travel if students are attending.
Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for Guelph, forecasting several hours of freezing rain through the day, with possible snow and ice pellets. Ice accumulation of 1 to 5 mm is expected, raising concerns about road safety and potential power outages.I
n contrast, Waterloo Region school buses are still operating, despite similar weather conditions in the forecast.
Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use caution as conditions may worsen throughout the day.
