Three Men Arrested After Vehicle Stolen From Guelph Gym, Police Expand Investigation

Three men from Brampton have been arrested following the theft of a vehicle from a gym in Guelph, with police now investigating possible links to similar crimes across southern Ontario.
According to Guelph police, the incident occurred on New Year’s Eve outside a gym on Eramosa Road. Investigators allege one suspect registered for a gym membership using a false name. While inside the change room, the suspect is accused of stealing a wallet and car keys belonging to another gym member.
Police say the suspect, with help from another individual, located the victim’s 2017 Toyota Camry in the parking lot and drove away with it. The case was later taken over by the Guelph Police Service’s Break, Enter and Auto Theft Unit.
On January 9, officers attended a residence in Brampton linked to the suspect. Police located the stolen Camry, which was allegedly fitted with a fake licence plate. While conducting surveillance, officers also observed three men leaving the residence in a Toyota van that had reportedly been stolen from Toronto earlier that same day.
All three men were arrested without incident. They range in age from 27 to 32 and face multiple charges related to vehicle theft. Police say additional charges may be laid as the investigation continues.
Authorities have confirmed that police services from other jurisdictions are now involved, suggesting the arrests may be connected to a broader pattern of auto thefts in the region.
