Cambridge Cyclist Killed in Brant County Hit‑and‑Run; Driver Arrested — OPP Investigation Ongoing

A 68‑year‑old Cambridge cyclist was killed in a hit‑and‑run collision in Brant County, Ontario, on Sunday morning, Jan. 11, police say. Emergency responders, including the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant‑Brantford Paramedic Services, and the Brant County Fire Department, were called to East River Road in Glen Morris around 8:30 a.m. after a passing motorist found the cyclist unresponsive in a roadside ditch.
The cyclist sustained life‑threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene, OPP confirmed. Investigators found vehicle debris — including a headlight and mirror — near the crash site, indicating the striking vehicle had front‑end damage and did not stop.
Brant County OPP later located the suspected vehicle, identified the driver, and arrested 65‑year‑old Lloyd Williamson of Brant County. He now faces a charge of “fail to stop at accident resulting in death” and is expected to appear in Brantford court on Feb. 27, 2026.
The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) Team continues to assist with the investigation. Police are urging anyone with information, dashcam footage, or who was travelling on East River Road around the time of the collision to contact authorities.
