The Kitchener Rangers extended their strong run Friday night with a 4–2 win over the Oshawa Generals, completing a season sweep and remaining atop the OHL’s Midwest Division.
Before puck drop at the Aud, the organization honoured former captain Brian Bellows, inducting him into the Rangers’ Level of Legacy. Bellows captained the team during its first Memorial Cup victory in 1982 and later enjoyed a lengthy NHL career, including a Stanley Cup championship with the Montreal Canadiens in 1993.
Following the ceremony, Kitchener set the tone early. Avry Anstis opened the scoring in the first period, assisted by Matthew Andronovski and newly acquired defenceman Jared Woolley. The Rangers built momentum in the second period when Dylan Edwards notched his 20th goal of the season. Christian Humphreys picked up the assist, extending his point streak to six games.
Woolley made an immediate impact in his Rangers debut, scoring a short-handed goal moments after leaving the penalty box for his first goal with the club. Oshawa responded late in the second period to make it 3–1 and pulled within one early in the third.
Any comeback hopes were short-lived, as Humphreys sealed the win with an empty-net goal. Woolley finished the night with two points and first-star honours, while Edwards earned second star.
With the victory, Kitchener improved to 24-11-3-1, holding first place in the Midwest Division with 52 points. The Rangers continue their road schedule Saturday night against the Owen Sound Attack.
