17-Year-Old Arrested in Guelph After Ram-Up on Police Cruisers While Impaired

A 17-year-old girl from Wellington County was arrested Friday night by Guelph police after ramming multiple police cruisers while driving impaired.

Police first learned of the situation just before 10 p.m. when another service reported a vehicle had struck two cruisers during a traffic stop attempt. Officers located the vehicle in a parking lot off Woodlawn Road East, where the driver tried to flee before crashing into a fence.

To safely detain her, officers used a cruiser to pin the vehicle in place. No injuries were reported to the driver or her three passengers.

At the police station, breath tests showed the teen had more than the legal blood alcohol limit. She now faces multiple charges including impaired driving, dangerous driving, failure to stop after a collision, and flight from police.

Her driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and her vehicle impounded for seven. She is scheduled to appear in court on January 28.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns about impaired driving in the region and police efforts to enforce road safety laws.
